Captain Erika is a standout name across nearly every review, and it's easy to see why. Her passion for the ocean is genuinely contagious, and guests consistently note that she spots wildlife before anyone else even knows where to look. The crew, which has included guides like Becca, Lauren, and Mikena, brings the same enthusiastic, knowledgeable energy, making the whole trip feel like a day out with friends who happen to know the ocean inside and out. The wildlife encounters here are something else. Pilot whales, humpbacks, oceanic sharks, dolphins, mantas, and even rare pygmy killer whales have all made appearances, and one group even helped rescue a sea turtle mid-trip. Small group sizes keep things intimate, and the boat itself gets consistently praised for comfort. Snacks are included, and on the return, the crew often hugs the coastline and shares a bit of local history, which is a nice touch that other operators tend to skip. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed on the open ocean, and the crew is upfront about that, but the overwhelming consensus is that a good time is. With a near-perfect rating across dozens of reviews, this one is hard to pass up if you want a genuine, small-group ocean experience in Kona.
What an incredible day with such a fun crew! Captain Erika and her team created an intimate and exciting day on the ocean, including many interactions with the sea life. We saw dolphins and whales and snorkeled in some beautiful areas with fish abounding. The crew’s friendly and relaxed attitude, combined with their knowledge and respect for the sea, created a day that felt like being on a boat with sea-expert friends! Highly recommend this incredible experience!
