Plan for about 100 stairs down into the cavern and back up. Some stairs can be slippery due to the wet cave conditions. You also need to crouch through a section where the ceiling is about 4 feet 3 inches high.

226 Cascade Cavern, Boerne, TX 78015
This cave system near Boerne has earned a devoted following, and it's easy to see why. Tours run about an hour and cover around 100 steps, which sounds manageable even for older visitors. One reviewer's 80-year-old uncle handled it just fine. The guides consistently steal the show, with names like Rain, Josslyne, Jocelyn, Cristina, and Nicoli popping up in review after review for being knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely fun to be around. Beyond the standard tour, there's a more adventurous option that takes you deeper underground where you can actually see water flowing into the aquifer and even swim in it. Camping and RV hookups are also available on-site, making this a solid overnight destination for nature lovers. Wildlife sightings, including bats, salamanders, and toads, add a little extra magic to the experience. Tip your guide in cash if you can.
Great tour and beautiful cave! An excellent way to spend an hour. They also have a more adventurous tour they do where you can down ladders way deeper in the earth and see where the water flows into the aquifer. You can swim in the aquifer if you want as well. I had them add my name to the list of potentially interested people at the main office. From Indiana and may well come back to camp at the campground and have some fun in the nature!
