    Review summary

Billy and his team have created something special at Congaree National Park. The owner-operated approach shines through in every review, with Billy himself frequently leading tours alongside guides like Jenny, Addie, Will, and K.D. What stands out most is the depth of knowledge these guides bring. They don't just paddle you through cypress forests; they weave together natural history, wildlife spotting, and local lore in a way that makes the park come alive. Guests consistently mention learning about everything from barred owls and river otters to the cultural history of the area. The practical details matter here too. First-rate kayaking equipment, attention to individual needs, and willingness to accommodate solo travelers or multi-generational groups (ages 12 to 81 have gone out together successfully). They've run tours in temperatures from 23 to 45 degrees with guests still raving about the experience. There's a genuine passion that comes through in every interaction, from last-minute bookings to going the extra mile for visitors. It's the kind of company where the owner will offer advice even if you're not a paying customer, simply because they love sharing this special place.

We had an incredible kayak tour through Congaree National Park with Carolina Outdoor Adventures, and I can’t say enough good things about it. Billy, the owner and our guide, was absolutely amazing. His knowledge of the park, wildlife, and history made the experience feel personal and immersive, not just a tour. Paddling through the quiet cypress forest while hearing barred owls and learning about this unique ecosystem was unforgettable. Billy was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about what he does. If you’re looking for an authentic way to experience Congaree, this is hands down the way to do it. Highly recommend!
