Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to meet your guide, get fitted with gear, and prepare for launch.
Bring a water bottle, sun protection (hat, sunglasses with retainer, sunscreen), quick-dry clothing (avoid cotton), footwear that can get wet, and a light layer for wind or cooler temperatures. Consider a towel for your car, snacks, essential medications, and a phone or camera secured in a waterproof case. You can also bring bug spray.
You must be able to wear a properly fitted lifejacket (personal flotation device) at all times, follow guide instructions, enter and exit a kayak independently or with minimal assistance, sit upright and maintain balance, and be comfortable in the water while wearing a lifejacket. If you capsize, you must be able to remain calm while floating and accept help from a guide during a rescue.

Justin and Laurie run a welcoming kayaking operation that consistently delivers memorable marsh and island tours. Their guides, including Justin, Clark, Diego, and Laurie, are praised for being knowledgeable about local wildlife and sharing fascinating details about birds, crabs, horseshoe crabs, and other creatures along the way. The Waties Island trips are particularly popular, offering beautiful scenery, a chance to explore a private beach, and interesting stops like the "oyster wall." Twilight paddles add a special touch with gorgeous sunsets and bioluminescent algae displays. The logistics are hassle-free. They provide quality kayaks and life vests, include shuttle service to the launch point, and handle rescheduling gracefully when weather doesn't cooperate. Tours typically last about 2.5 hours with time to swim, shell, or explore the island. First-timers feel comfortable with the patient instruction, and repeat customers keep coming back year after year. One reviewer mentioned a guide with poor English and vague instructions that led to minor navigation issues, but this seems to be an isolated experience amid overwhelmingly positive feedback about the personable, informative guides who make the trips both educational and fun.
Justin and Laurie were great guides! They are very knowledgeable! We enjoyed a sunset paddle to Waites Island. We had the best time and learned so much! Do yourself a favor and book an excursion with this outfit while you are visiting! You will not be disappointed!
