Matthew, Robert, Joshua, and the team here have clearly built something special on Wallowa Lake. The glass-bottom clear kayak tours, especially at night, consistently wow visitors with spectacular stargazing, informative geology and history lessons, and peaceful lake exploration. Guides take time to point out wildlife, share local stories, and create memorable moments like turning off lights mid-lake for unobstructed views of the Milky Way. What really stands out is the flexibility and personal touch. Multiple reviewers mention last-minute accommodations, schedule adjustments for families with kids, and staff going above and beyond with extras like sunscreen, water, and dry bags. The kayaks themselves get praise for being spotless and well-maintained. Tours often run a bit longer than scheduled, which guests appreciate. One negative review from a past visit describes a tense confrontation between the owner and another customer, though this appears isolated among otherwise glowing feedback. First-timers and experienced paddlers alike find the experience welcoming, with guides making everything feel easy and safe regardless of skill level.
My friend and I shared a kayak for the glass bottom night paddle and it was wonderful! The sunset was incredible, our guide was so informative, and the stories were very engaging. We saw some fish, a heron, and then they turned off the lights for a beautiful nighttime view. The float was scheduled to end at 9:45 but went until after 10, so plan for a little extra time. We did get a little wet, and it was chilly on the lake, despite the over 80 degree day. Absolutely worth every penny!
