Dead Horse Point State Park
Dead Horse Point State Park sits on a dramatic mesa high above the Colorado River, where sheer sandstone cliffs drop two thousand feet to the canyons below and the river carves a perfect gooseneck through the desert floor. Just outside Moab and neighboring Canyonlands National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park offers some of the most cinematic views in the American Southwest, along with a network of purpose-built singletrack that has made it a bucket-list destination for mountain bikers. This private guided ride takes full advantage of that landscape, pairing world-class trails with rim-edge overlooks that feel like riding along the edge of the world.
Your day on the Intrepid Trail System at Dead Horse Point State Park is tailored to your group's skill level, from smooth, flowing beginner loops to more technical intermediate lines that wind through pinyon, juniper, and slickrock. A local guide leads the way, sharing the geology and history of the area while you pedal between viewpoints overlooking the Colorado River, the La Sal Mountains, and the red rock spires of Canyonlands. Expect cool desert air in the morning, the crunch of tires on sandstone, and frequent stops at panoramic overlooks where the scale of the canyon country becomes almost impossible to process. Because the ride is private, the pace is yours, with plenty of time for photos, hydration breaks, and questions.
This experience is ideal for couples, families, and small groups who want to ride together without being mixed in with strangers, whether you are a confident rider chasing big views or a newer cyclist easing into desert mountain biking. Adventure travelers visiting Moab will appreciate how Dead Horse Point State Park delivers thrilling singletrack and jaw-dropping scenery in a single, manageable outing. If you want one unforgettable half-day in red rock country, riding the rim at Dead Horse Point State Park is hard to beat.
Travelers consistently rave about the exceptional service and expertise they receive from Kenny, Noah, and the rest of the team at Dead Horse Point. The staff goes above and beyond with personalized trail recommendations, patient instruction for beginners, and genuine care that makes even first-time mountain bikers feel confident and comfortable. Multiple families mention guides getting kids hooked on the sport, while nervous beginners praise how the crew tailors advice to individual skill levels. The convenience factor is huge here - you can walk up to rent right at the trailhead without a reservation and still get expert guidance that rivals a full tour. The e-bikes get special mention as game-changers, allowing people to cover more ground and see stunning vistas they wouldn't reach otherwise. Reviewers describe the bikes as high-quality and well-maintained, with some noting the rental experience alone (even without booking a guided tour) feels like VIP treatment. The location at Dead Horse Point delivers jaw-dropping canyon views that many call the highlight of their entire Utah trip. It's clear this operation has nailed the balance of top-notch equipment, insider trail knowledge, and genuinely helpful people who make mountain biking accessible to everyone.
