Food tastings, Beverages
Join a leisurely walking tour led by engaging guides as you visit locally owned Bar Harbor spots for distinctive tastings. Enjoy generous samples paired with local history, fun facts, and lore.
Expect a 1–1.5 mile walk over about 3 hours. Wheelchairs and walkers are not recommended due to narrow doorways, small spaces, stairs, and uneven terrain. All ages welcome; small or collapsible strollers encouraged; service dogs only.
Is this tour wheelchair accessible?
Bar Harbor's dedication to historic preservation means that many spaces are small buildings with narrow doorways and some stairs. This tour also brings you through the cemetery at St. Savior's which does not have access by wheelchair.
Is this tour kid-friendly?
We're a family friendly tour, all ages are welcome, but it is ideally suited for adults. We encourage small or collapsible strollers to fit inside many partners.
May I bring my dog?
We love dogs, but legally our partners are not allowed to have pets enter their premises unless they're certified service dogs. Join us on one of our Doggy & Me Tours!
How close is the starting point to the cruise ship disembarkation?
This is approximately a 10 minute walk and it's a straight up Main Street to the Village Green.
Tours run rain, snow, or shine. During periods of heavy rain the operator may cancel and provide a raincheck or refund.
The guides here really make or break the experience, and fortunately most travelers rave about their personalities and expertise. Tyler brings Portland's history to life on walking tours, while AJ wins people over with her humor and local recommendations. Ray and Timothy both get praise for their knowledge and storytelling abilities, though opinions vary on pacing. The oyster and bubbles boat tour sounds particularly special, with a master shucker guiding you through Portland's oyster scene. Tours cover both Portland and Bar Harbor locations, with options ranging from history walks to culinary experiences. Food portions generally satisfy guests, with most leaving pleasantly full from stops featuring lobster rolls, chowder, and other Maine staples. A few travelers felt the tours spent too much time on guide monologues rather than diving into building histories or meeting restaurant owners. The occasional complaint surfaces about pacing or wanting more variety in stops. Overall though, visitors appreciate getting a solid introduction to Portland's food scene and Old Port area, especially from guides who clearly love their city and know where locals actually eat.
Excellent time and a great value. We hit up four places during our tour which was the perfect amount of food/drinks. Go hungry but don't pace yourself. Dive in head first and consume all. Our guide, Timothy, was fantastic. Lot's of knowledge, entertaining, and an accomplished artist so we got to see his work around Old Port on our travels. This is the kind of tour that we will do again when we hit Portland next year. Just a good time. It took just shy of 3 hours and ours ended with chocolates which was a nice touch.
