3 hours
Paddle, PFD, SUP leash
Explore the Oakland Estuary on a 3-hour self-guided rental. Pick a kayak or SUP and enjoy calm urban waters with essential gear included.
Bring a government-issued ID and leave a driver’s license as deposit; all renters must sign a waiver. Minors must be with a parent or legal guardian; minimum age in a double kayak is 5; no alcohol. Rentals are weather dependent; return on time to avoid extra charges; traditional sea kayaks require prior course and self-rescue skills.
What should I wear?
Wear quick-dry synthetics or wool; no cotton. Bring layers for wind and splashes.
Will I get wet?
Yes. Water may drip on the board or into the kayak. Bring a towel and a dry layer for after your trip.
Will I fall in?
It’s possible. Stability varies by craft and your experience.
Is there a place to store my stuff?
Kayaks have space if items are in a dry bag. Small lockers are available; bring your own lock.
Where can I paddle?
Routes depend on your skill. Expect urban waterfront views within the Oakland Estuary boundary.
What might I see?
Historic waterfront, cranes, city views, resident and migrating birds, and occasional harbor seals.

The staff here clearly knows their stuff and genuinely cares about getting people out on the water safely. Multiple reviewers mention JT and Sou by name, praising their patient instruction style and willingness to go the extra mile, like helping track down hard-to-find gear or rescheduling when water conditions aren't ideal. The equipment gets consistent praise for being well-maintained, and there's a solid selection whether you're renting or shopping for your own kayak or paddleboard. Beyond rentals, they offer lessons that work well for beginners and families with kids, plus they handle repairs and maintenance like drysuit gasket replacements with quick turnaround. The Oakland Estuary location provides calm waters with nice Bay Area views, making it an accessible spot for first-timers to build confidence. One customer had an initial hiccup with an online order that turned out to be a spam folder issue, but the team resolved it quickly once they connected. The genuine passion for paddling sports and commitment to customer care shines through consistently.
