You may book the charter before you have the permit, but you must obtain a Disposition of Cremated Remains permit before the ash scattering and bring the original with you.
Dress in layers and bring a warm jacket or sweatshirt, as it can be 10 to 15 degrees cooler on the water. Bring any drinks and snacks you want; closed beverage containers and easy-to-eat dry snacks work best on the Zodiac-style boat.
