The crew here, including guides like Della, Dylan, Greta, and Aaron, are consistently the highlight of this experience. Knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely engaging, they field endless questions about lobstering, local wildlife, and Maine history without missing a beat. Wildlife sightings, including seals, porpoises, and even the occasional osprey-eagle showdown, add a natural element of excitement to the bay tours. Families with young kids, including infants, have found the rides smooth and welcoming, and the lobster rolls from Young's Lobster Pound included with the tour are frequently described as trip highlights on their own. The lobster boat experience is more of a relaxed, educational outing than an action-packed adventure. You'll pull up traps, learn the process, and soak in the scenery rather than haul in a massive catch. For travelers who come in with that understanding, the experience delivers beautifully. Those expecting a more hands-on or unpredictable fishing experience should know what they're signing up for. Overall, the reviews paint a picture of a well-run, genuinely enjoyable way to spend a few hours on Penobscot Bay.
This was one of the most fun things we did on our whole trip to Maine. Captain Mike was awesome… Explained really interesting things about lobsters, the boat, the waterways, and all about lobster fishing. Fortunately, the day was beautiful, the water was calm, and we found all sorts of interesting critters in his lobster traps! At the end of it, I was expecting the standard lobster roll or some such thing for lunch, and instead we were treated to an absolute feast of steamed lobster, clams, shrimp, mussels, steamed corn… Oh my gosh.! it was absolutely amazing. We had the best time and it was really really interesting. Thank you to Captain Mike and all the folks at the lobster Pound. It was an extremely memorable activity. Don’t miss this one!!!
