Meet rescued farm animals on a 1-hour guided sanctuary walk
1 Hour
Guided walking tour
Explore Farm Sanctuary on a 1-hour educational walking tour and hear the rescue stories behind its animal residents. Walk the outdoor grounds with a guide and learn about Farm Sanctuary’s work for animals, people, and the planet.
This is an outdoor walking tour on unpaved dirt and gravel paths with mild inclines and limited shade. Wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers cannot enter certain enclosures, and companion and ADA animals are not allowed on the shelter grounds.
Guests will receive a full refund if a tour gets cancelled due to severe weather or other unforeseen circumstances. No-shows are non-refundable. Notify at least 24 hours in advance to be rebooked or refunded. Any non-refundable payment will be used as a general donation.
Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Bring a water bottle, hat, sunglasses, and sunblock since shade is limited. If rain is forecast, bring rain gear; if it has rained in the past week, consider waterproof boots because paths can get muddy.
Expect an outdoor walk on unpaved compacted dirt and gravel, with some rocky, grassy, and uneven terrain. Paths can be slippery or dusty and include short mild inclines and declines, with limited places to sit or rest.
You can visit the sanctuary grounds, but strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, and other walking aids cannot enter animal enclosures (including the cow and pig pastures) for safety reasons.
Acton, CA
This animal rescue sanctuary in Acton, CA draws visitors from across the LA area and earns consistently glowing feedback. Staff clearly know each animal's individual backstory, and that personal connection comes through during tours. Guests frequently mention being able to get up close with the animals, including petting cows, which tends to be a memorable highlight regardless of why someone visits. The sanctuary attracts a mix of longtime vegans, curious first-timers, and families with kids, and many reviewers mention bringing friends or partners as a kind of meaningful outing or even a birthday treat. One reviewer did raise a concern about the welfare of some of the larger animals on site, feeling that certain conditions didn't align with their idea of humane care, so it's worth keeping in mind that this place does carry a clear philosophical perspective around animal advocacy. That said, the overwhelming majority of visitors leave genuinely moved by the experience. If you're looking for something a little off the usual tourist path that also happens to leave a lasting impression, this one is worth the drive.
Best experience ever. Always makes me feel welcome and reaffirmed in my decision to be vegan. Recommend going once a year and bringing non vegan friends.
