Here’s the thing about Ben: it’s not just a charter for him. It’s a way of life. He stayed in the water with me the entire time. Not on the boat watching — in the water, right there, the whole trip. When I was struggling, he figured out why before I could even explain it and repositioned the boat to fix it. When I got frustrated, he was patient. And when I finally speared my first fish, he was more excited than I was. Then he did something I didn’t expect. My wife wasn’t spearfishing, so he took us to a sandbar so she could enjoy the day too. She mentioned wanting to find some shells — he loaded us up, ran us straight to a spot loaded with conch shells, and she came up with a beauty. (I’m fairly convinced he planted that one.
