Discover what we've curated for you
This intimate museum offers an authentic look into voodoo and hoodoo culture through a personal collection of artifacts and local art. The staff stands out for being engaging and knowledgeable, adding valuable context to help visitors understand the spiritual traditions and dispel common misconceptions. Reviewers appreciate the respectful presentation of this misunderstood practice, with displays covering the spirits, proper terminology, and the African, Caribbean, and Creole roots that shaped New Orleans spirituality. The space itself is quite small, consisting of just two rooms beyond the gift shop, which surprises some visitors expecting a larger venue. A few displays have typos or missing text that can affect comprehension. The museum works best for those genuinely interested in voodoo culture and history. If you're curious about this aspect of New Orleans heritage and set your expectations for a compact, curated collection rather than an expansive exhibition, most visitors find it a worthwhile stop in the French Quarter.
Really neat little shop and museum, if you're into that stuff. Great collection of little historical/cultural artifacts relating to voodoo/hoodoo. Very small, though, so don't expect to much, but worth the visit.
