Ride for two hours with an 18+ group for a calmer trail pace and more relaxed time in the saddle
2 Hours
Horse, Guide, Helmet
Take a two-hour horseback trail ride designed for adults who want a calm, unhurried experience without children in the group. You’ll ride with other 18+ guests and enjoy scenery, steady momentum, and time to relax in the saddle.
Riders must be 18+ and a minimum of 2 riders is required. Weight limits apply: 220 lbs if under 6', 240 lbs if over 6', and 260 lbs if over 6'4". Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required, and riders may not participate if visibly impaired.
Full refund with at least 48 hours and 5 minutes notice. The operator may cancel due to outrageous weather or other unforeseen circumstances; customers will receive a full refund in that case. Groups of 12+ and private rides require 30 days notice for a full refund; some private events and larger groups require 60 days notice.
Arrive at your reservation time. If you arrive early, please wait in the saloon under the tents until you are called over to begin check-in.
The ride typically goes out the gate about 30–40 minutes after you check in (timing can vary if the prior ride arrived late or had a complicated group).
Yes. Every rider age 18+ must completely fill out a liability release (front and back). One person may not sign for another.
Vail Stables
The horses here know their stuff, and so do the guides. Pedro, Chloe, Olivia, and the other staff members consistently earn praise for being friendly, patient, and excellent at making nervous or first-time riders feel completely at ease. The owner Kim gets special mentions for her warmth and attention to detail. Families particularly appreciate how accommodating they are with young children (they take kids as young as 5), and the horses like Chester, Twister, and even Sassy are well-trained and perfectly matched to riders' experience levels. The trail rides through the "Enchanted Forest" are genuinely breathtaking, especially during fall when the aspens are changing colors. Guides thoughtfully stop for photos and keep safety as a top priority throughout the experience. A couple of reviewers wished they'd had more time to connect with their horses before and after rides, noting the operation can feel a bit rushed during busy periods with little opportunity for petting or bonding. Beyond horseback riding, the goat happy hour and goat yoga get enthusiastic mentions as fun, relaxed activities with stunning mountain views.
Vail Stables ended up being one of the most fun afternoons we’ve had in the Vail Valley! The property is full of personality, with beautiful horses, ponies, and curious goats, all surrounded by some of the most breathtaking mountain views in the area. One of our favorite parts was spending time with the goats, and for just $5 you can buy a whole tin of goat treats, which is absolutely worth it. If you love animals, you’ll have a hard time leaving! They also offer scenic horseback rides and goat yoga, making it the perfect place whether you’re looking for an adventure or just a relaxing afternoon surrounded by incredible scenery. We also loved the small bar and snack area. They offer a great selection of wine, Colorado craft beers, classic cocktails like Moscow Mules, domestic beers, sodas, and assorted packaged snacks perfect for relaxing and soaking in the views. Another of the highlights of our visit was spending time with Betsy. She is so welcoming, friendly, genuinely fun and caring! She also teaches the property’s popular goat yoga! From the incredible mountain scenery and well-cared-for animals to the welcoming staff and laid-back Colorado charm, Vail Stables is a place we’d happily recommend to anyone visiting the Vail Valley. We left with huge smiles, amazing photos, memories, and can’t wait to come back!
