Paddle splashy Class 2 rapids on a beginner-friendly Athabasca River raft trip
2 hours round-trip (includes 1 hour on-water)
Guide, gear, transport
Explore a scenic section of the glacial-fed Athabasca River on a family-friendly rafting trip designed for first-timers. You’ll get geared up and briefed by licensed guides before paddling calm stretches with small, splashy rapids.
Minimum age is 5, and minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Trips run rain or shine, and total duration is approximate and may vary due to traffic conditions and river flow.
Bookings (1-7 pax): 48-hour cancellation/change policy; non-refundable within 48 hours of departure. Group bookings (8+ pax): 7-day cancellation/change policy; non-refundable within 7 days of departure. Operator may cancel with full refund or modify any trip.
Wear your swimsuit (or swim shorts) under your regular clothes so you can change more easily at the river. Bring a towel and warm, dry clothes for after the trip. If it’s cold or rainy, bring extra layers to wear under your paddle jacket (polypropylene, fleece, or wool works best when wet). You can also bring water and a snack for the bus ride after the trip.
You change into your rafting gear at the river’s edge. Store any belongings you bring on the bus during your time on the river.
Ride the Athabasca Expressway rain or shine. You’ll get a wetsuit and paddle jacket, and you can add extra warm layers underneath if you tend to get cold.
