Captain service is not included in the listed price and is hired separately. Gratuity for a hired captain or crew is customary at 15–20% of the original charter price. Fuel is included.
Self-operation requires at least 2 years of experience with similar-sized vessels, no marine losses in the past 10 years, no license violations or suspensions in the past 5 years, and no criminal convictions.
Insurance coverage applies on Lake Michigan, the Chicago River, and the Playpen. Operating outside these areas can leave you responsible for losses or damage not covered by insurance.
