Design a 3–8 hour charter packed with fishing, shelling, wildlife watching and more, guided by a local captain.
3–8 hrs
Up to 6 people
Cooler with ice, all gear, licenses
Spend the day aboard The Island Girl with a local captain, tailoring your 3–8-hour outing to fishing, shelling, dolphin watching and more. Choose your favorite activities and explore back creeks, beaches and the Savannah River at your own pace.
Trips require a minimum of three hours; add one hour for Daufuskie Island stops. A 45-minute no-wake eco-tour applies on all departures.
Q: How long are the trips?
A: Trips range from 3 to 8 hours, depending on your chosen activities. All trips have a 3-hour minimum, and Daufuskie Island stops require an additional hour.
Q: Can I choose my own activities?
A: Yes. You can pick up to three interests such as fishing, crabbing, beachcombing, dolphin watching, or fossil hunting, and the captain will customize the trip for you.
Q: Are there any special requirements for fossil or shark tooth hunting?
A: Serious fossil and shark tooth hunters should contact Capt. in advance so the trip can be planned around the best tides.
Q: Is there any travel time included in the trip?
A: Yes. All trips include about 45 minutes total of no-wake zone and eco-touring time when leaving and returning to the marina.
Q: When is shark fishing available?
A: Shark fishing is available from June through October and is recommended as a 4-hour trip when combined with crabbing and shark tooth hunting.
Q: Can we stop for food or drinks during the trip?
A: Yes. You can choose to stop at the Daufuskie Island Crab Company for local seafood or beverages during your outing.
Q: Where can I use a restroom before or after the tour?
A: Restrooms are available at the dock before boarding and also at the stop on Daufuskie Island if the itinerary includes that stop.
Q: Is parking available at the dock before our tour departs?
A: Yes. Guests are advised to arrive about 15 minutes before departure so you can use the restroom and get settled.
Notify us at least 48 hours in advance if you need to cancel; no-shows or cancellations within 48 hours are charged in full. Captains may cancel trips due to weather or unforeseen events.

Captain Will and Captain Nick have clearly built something special here, judging by the overwhelmingly enthusiastic feedback from families who've experienced their tours. What stands out immediately is how well these guides connect with kids of all ages. Parents consistently mention how patient and engaging both captains are, with children as young as four having memorable experiences. The tours seem incredibly flexible too, with captains tailoring activities based on what each group wants to do, whether that's shark fishing, hunting for shark teeth on secluded beaches, crabbing, or visiting Shell Island. The variety packed into these excursions is impressive. Families regularly report seeing dolphins up close (sometimes within touching distance), catching bonnethead sharks, finding fossilized shark teeth, holding stone crabs, and exploring pristine shell-covered islands. One of the most appealing aspects is how the captains make everything feel relaxed and fun rather than overly structured. Hannah also gets special mention for surf lessons that had kids standing on boards within minutes. Nobody mentioned any disappointments or issues in these reviews, which is rare. Whether you're looking for a few hours on the water or a longer adventure, this outfit seems to deliver exactly what families visiting Hilton Head are hoping for, creating those "core memory" experiences that kids won't stop talking about long after vacation ends.
We had an amazing day on the water with Native Son Adventures and Captain Will! From shark tooth hunting on Pinckney Island to finding beautiful conch shells on “Shell Island,” every moment was unforgettable. We saw so many dolphins, and it was awesome to see how excited Captain Will was—he clearly loves what he does. He was calm, laid-back, and genuinely made the trip feel special. Lunch on Daufuskie Island was a great addition, and on the way back, we had the incredible experience of watching dolphins feed. Captain Will took his time, followed them, and shared so much cool info—never in a rush, just enjoying the moment with us. We’ll definitely be back for another adventure with him. Highly recommend!
