Know before you go
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure
- Ages 5+ only for entry into the mine
- Children ages 1–10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times
- Infants 11 months and younger must ride on a lap or in a body carrier; strollers and car seats are not allowed on the train
- Children under 5 may visit the mine site with a ticketed adult but must remain outside the mine in a designated area
- Requires long-distance walking on a steep, uneven gravel hill above 9,000 feet
- Requires good health and no heart, respiratory, mobility issues, or recent surgeries
- Requires independent walking without mobility aids; wheelchairs cannot be accommodated at the mine site
- Wear a hard hat throughout the underground tour
- Complete a liability waiver before participating
- Arrive prepared for changing weather; refunds and rain checks are not offered for inclement weather
- Do not bring alcohol, recreational drugs, glass, or hard-sided coolers
Cancellation Policy
Cancel up to 48 hours before departure for a 90% refund of the ticket subtotal. No refund within 48 hours of departure. Transfers incur a 10% fee.
FAQs
Wear close-toed shoes and dress for 40–45°F (4.5–7.2°C) temperatures inside the mine. Stay well-hydrated for the high altitude.
Coach seating is first come, first served on benches along the sides of the car. Coach cars are either canopy-roof box cars with open sides or open-air gondola cars with no sides or roof. Board together if you want to sit together.
Bring snacks or a sack lunch for the train ride. Do not bring alcohol, glass, or large containers such as hard-sided coolers.
