Know before you go
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure and prepare for changing weather
- Ages 5+ only for entry into the mine; younger children may remain above ground with a ticketed adult
- Children ages 1–10 must remain with an adult at all times
- Infants 11 months and younger must ride on a lap or in a body carrier; strollers and car seats are not allowed on the train
- Mine access requires long-distance independent walking on a steep, uneven gravel hill above 9,000 feet, without mobility aids
- Mine tours require good health and are not suitable for heart, respiratory, or mobility issues, or recent surgery
- Wear a hard hat in the mine and close-toed shoes; expect low ceilings and temperatures of 40–45°F
- Leave alcohol, recreational drugs, glass, and hard-sided coolers behind
- Participation requires acceptance of a liability waiver
Cancellation Policy
Cancel up to 48 hours before departure for a 90% refund of the ticket subtotal. No refund within 48 hours of departure. No refunds for no-shows or changes within 1 hour of departure. Transfers incur a 10% fee.
FAQs
Every passenger must have a mine tour ticket to disembark at the mine platform. Children under 5 may stay at the mine site above ground with a ticketed adult.
Coach seating is first-come, first-served on benches. Cars are either open-sided box cars with canopy roofs or open-air gondola cars. Board together if you want to sit together.
Bring snacks or a sack lunch if you like; food and drinks are not provided in coach. Outside alcohol, glass, and large containers such as hard-sided coolers are not allowed.
