Justin has clearly built something special here. Reviewers consistently praise his deep local knowledge of Door County's geology, history, and indigenous heritage, noting how his passion for the area shines through every tour. The equipment gets special attention too – these are proper sea kayaks (Wilderness Systems Tsunami 145s) that handle better than typical rental fleets, staying warmer and drier even in less-than-perfect conditions. His small group sizes mean you get a personalized experience rather than feeling like part of a crowd, and several reviews mention appreciated early morning starts that beat the tourist rush. What really sets Justin apart is his flexibility and attentiveness. He proactively reschedules when weather isn't ideal, customizes tours for different ability levels within the same group, and one family specifically highlighted his exceptional accommodation of a family member with disabilities. Whether you're a complete beginner or experienced paddler, multiple reviewers note he adjusts the pace and instruction perfectly. The variety of tour locations (Rock Island, Cana Island, Death's Door shipwrecks, Cave Point, Mink River) keeps repeat customers coming back, with some people booking multiple tours during a single trip.
This was my first kayak experience, and I dare to say I think I've been spoiled. The kayak was very comfortable, very adjustable with the seats and foot holds. They seemed very nice compared to other kayaks. Justin was very confident in every way. His instruction was clear and understandable, he instilled us newbies with confidence, and he was very well versed in the information about the area and shipwreck we saw. He's local to Door County, so it makes sense! He was also very personable, easy going, and approachable. We never felt unsafe and we thoroughly enjoyed our time! Will definitely get him again for a different Door County tour.
