Hike a 4-mile roundtrip trail from a forested mountain lake into an old-growth rainforest, ending at the bottom of an avalanche chute. You’ll travel with a small group led by owner-operator Tongass Teague.
This is a somewhat strenuous hike on elevated, uneven terrain and is not wheelchair accessible. No facilities are available at the trailhead or along the trail. Children 7 and under must use a child car seat, and guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Cancel 15+ days before start for a refund minus a $30 administrative fee per booking. Within 14 days and no-shows are non-refundable. Full refunds for guests on ships that cancel their Ketchikan port arrival on the date of their booked tour.
Expect a somewhat strenuous hike on elevated, uneven terrain. You’ll climb on sections with gravel, large rocks, and roots, and the route gains roughly 800 feet on the way to the avalanche chute.
Wear hiking boots or trail shoes with traction and support. Bring a jacket or warm layer, a rain jacket and rain pants, and a backpack if possible (line it with a garbage bag). You can also bring a camera.
No. There are no facilities at the trailhead or along the trail. Use public restrooms at Berth 3 before or after the hike.
