Cruise Carmel-by-the-Sea by e-bike while your dog rides in a sidecar
2 hours
E-bikes, sidecars
Ride premium throttle electric bikes from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea to dog-friendly coastal stops, with your pup secured in a custom handmade sidecar. Follow your guide along Scenic Road and pass local landmarks including Tor House and the Carmel Mission.
Your dog must wear a harness to be clipped into the sidecar. If your dog is over 50 lbs, the sidecar rider must be at least 5'2" and able to manage the bike. The sidecar bike leans into turns and is not recommended for anyone with balance issues. Optional e-bike insurance is available for an extra charge ($15 per rider).
Cancel in writing at least 7 days before for a refund. No refunds for no-shows or cancellations on the day of the reservation or after it starts. Operator may cancel due to poor weather or if you cannot ride safely; if they cancel, you get a full refund.
Skip this experience if you have balance issues. The sidecar bike leans into turns and is not a stable, non-leaning three-wheel bike.
Bring a body harness so your dog can be securely strapped into the sidecar. Use a harness with both a front (chest) and rear (back) hook for attaching a leash.
If your dog is over 50 lbs, the sidecar rider must be at least 5'2" and able to manage the bike with a larger dog.

Mission Trail Park is one of Carmel's best-kept green secrets, a 35-acre stretch of oak woodland and wildflower meadows tucked just behind the Carmel Mission. With its shaded footpaths, native plant gardens, and gentle creek crossings, the park offers a peaceful contrast to the village bustle and the dramatic coastline nearby. On a dog-friendly electric bike sidecar tour, Mission Trail Park becomes a memorable stop where your four-legged co-pilot can stretch their legs, sniff fresh sea air carried inland through the pines, and take in the same quiet beauty that has drawn locals here for decades.
Rolling up to Mission Trail Park in a sidecar is part of the fun. You glide silently along Carmel's storied streets on an electric bike, your guide pointing out fairytale cottages and hidden courtyards before easing into the wooded calm at the park's edge. Compared with the open ocean drama of Carmel Beach or the polished charm of Ocean Avenue, Mission Trail Park feels intimate and grounded, full of birdsong, dappled light, and the earthy scent of bay laurels. Your guide can share a little of the area's mission-era history and point out the trails that wind toward the historic Carmel Mission Basilica, giving the stop both natural beauty and a sense of place.
This is a perfect detour for dog owners, couples, and anyone who wants to see Carmel beyond the obvious postcard views. Families traveling with a small or medium pup will love watching their dog ride happily in the sidecar between stops, and nature lovers appreciate that Mission Trail Park offers a softer, greener side of the Monterey Peninsula. If you want a Carmel experience that blends quirky transport, local insight, and genuine pet-friendly moments, a guided sidecar tour with a stop at Mission Trail Park delivers all of it in one unforgettable ride.
This dual bike shop and coffee bar draws rave reviews for its friendly, knowledgeable staff who excel at setting up visitors with e-bikes and adorable dog sidecars. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy their work, offering thoughtful touches like pup cups and making sure nervous dogs feel secure before heading out. Tour guides like Leslie and Kathy get particular praise for their warmth and expertise, with Kathy even surprising one birthday guest with a cookie and candle. The bikes themselves are easy to handle, and the recommended 17-Mile Drive route delivers stunning coastal scenery that riders say beats experiencing it by car. The coffee side holds its own with creative homemade syrups (the vanilla cardamom and velvet noir lattes get enthusiastic mentions) and perfectly pulled espresso shots. The aesthetic space feels like a genuine gem rather than a tourist trap. One detailed review raised concerns about unclear tour structures, pushy insurance add-ons, and an awkward tipping moment that left a sour note, though this seems to be an outlier among otherwise glowing experiences. Whether renting bikes independently or joining a guided tour, most visitors call it a highlight of their Carmel visit and appreciate the full-day rental option to avoid feeling rushed.
i cannot say enough good things about Mad Dogs & Englishmen! i lived in monterey for almost 10 years and had no clue what a gem this place was till i moved away. i tried their coffee which was absolutely fantastic — the cold foam was the cherry on top! i then came back to try the ceremonial iced matcha which was the perfect matcha to milk ratio (IYKYK). i also tried the ham and cheese croissant — which my stomach ate first. SO YUMMY & cheesy. the staff are all incredibly friendly. their shop inside is so cute; from apparel, to beans, stickers, and more! parking is limited to street parking, which can get crazy during peak tourist season, but absolutely worth the walk! i will always go out of my way now to get a coffee or matcha here — 10/10!
