Itinerary

🌊 Living Reef Lab Snorkel – 3 Hour Itinerary

7:40 AM – Arrival & Check-In Arrive at Kawaihae Harbor (S Basin), meet your crew, and get fitted with snorkel gear. We’ll provide a safety briefing and introduce the Living Reef Lab experience.

8:00 AM – Departure & Coastal Cruise Depart the harbor and cruise along the Kohala Coast while learning about reef ecosystems, marine life, and the goals of our hands-on citizen science program.

First Reef Stop – Introduction to the Reef Lab Enter the water at a carefully selected reef site. Practice using fish ID cards and begin observing reef species, behaviors, and coral health with guidance from your crew.

Surface Interval & Data Discussion Return to the boat for refreshments and snacks while discussing observations and what you’ve recorded so far.

Second Reef Stop – Applied Exploration Visit a second reef location to continue your observations, building on what you’ve learned while identifying more species and behaviors in a new environment.

Photo, Video & Education Throughout the trip, we capture complimentary photos and video while providing ongoing education about reef conservation and marine life.

Return Cruise to Harbor Relax on the ride back as we review highlights from your experience and answer any final questions.

11:00 AM – Return Arrive back at the harbor with a deeper understanding of Hawaii’s reefs and your role in helping protect them. 🌊🐠

Important details

• Arrive 20 minutes early for check-in, gear fitting, and orientation
• Enter through Gate 1, follow the road toward the point, and continue through Gate 12 to reach parking near the restroom
