Experience astronomer-led stargazing on the slopes of Mauna Kea or Mauna Loa. Use a deep-space camera to see galaxies and take home complimentary night photos.
This 1.5–2 hour tour operates at approximately 7,000–9,000 feet and does not visit the summit. All ages are welcome, though under 5 is not typically recommended; guests under 17 must be with a parent or guardian. Dress warmly as temperatures can be 30–50°F; group size is limited to 12 per guide.

We use a deep space star‑tracker camera setup to capture long‑exposure images of galaxies, clusters and nebulae
Does this tour visit the summit?
No, the summit closes after sunset; stargazing is at lower elevations
Why do start times vary?
Times are selected to avoid bright moonlight; the Milky Way core is seasonal
Do we watch sunset?
Tours start at least an hour after sunset; you may watch sunset on your own and join afterwards

Will it be cold?
Expect roughly 30–50°F; parka jackets are provided
