Wear polyester or other synthetic layers (avoid cotton or denim) and bring warm thick socks. You can also bring sunglasses, a hat and gloves, and personal items like a camera, binoculars, reusable water bottle, extra food, and additional layers.
Glaciers are dynamic, so trekking on glacier ice and the amount of time on the ice can’t be guaranteed. Specific features (including ice caves and moulins) also can’t be guaranteed, and your guide will choose routes based on safety conditions.
Plan for a strenuous outing with no experience required. You must know how to swim, be able to paddle about 1 hour roundtrip, and hike up to 2 miles on uneven terrain.

Julia was a great guide! Would absolutely do this excursion again. We witnessed a whale completely breach the surface and another whale or two come up multiple times while in the kayaks. So much fun and quite exciting. Wish we were quick enough to get it on camera…. June 23,2026
