Sail past the Statue of Liberty and skyline aboard NYC's only passenger tall ship
1 Hour & 30 Minutes
Scenic sail, Experienced crew
Sail New York Harbor aboard the Clipper City, the city’s only passenger tall ship. Glide past the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and skyline views as the crew sets the sails.
Check in 15 minutes before departure; the boat leaves on time. Sailing runs in light rain; the captain may cancel for unsafe weather. Seating is limited and not guaranteed.
What do I wear?
The temperature can be cooler out on the water so dress accordingly - best to be prepared! Hats and sunscreen are recommended on summer days.
Should I tip the crew?
Yes! It is customary to tip the crew & bartender if you enjoyed your experience.
Will it rain?
Occasionally. Sailing is an all-weather activity; & we do sail in light rain or intermittent sprinkles, however, the Captain will cancel due to severe or unsafe conditions. MBS will do its best to notify you promptly, but last-minute cancelations do happen. If the Captain must cancel a sail, customers will be offered alternate departures, subject to availability, or receive a sailing credit for the current or following season.
What are the seating options on the boat?
There are places to sit on the boat, though we cannot guarantee a proper seat for every person on board. We operate historic boats with authentic on-deck fixtures - many people wander around in order to take in the sights and others take right to the deck like a picnic.
What payment options are available at the bar?
We accept cash or card at the bar.
Bookings are non-refundable. Reschedules more than 72 hours before departure may incur a fee; within 72 hours, tickets are forfeited. Sailings operate in light rain; no refunds for weather cancellations. If the operator cancels for non-weather reasons, you may reschedule.

Sailing through New York Harbor on this tall ship delivers exactly the kind of memorable experience travelers hope for. The crew consistently earns praise for being friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging, with Captain Steve and the team making guests feel welcome while skillfully handling the sails. What sets this apart from typical harbor tours is the authentic sailing experience where passengers can actually help with the rigging if they want, plus incredible views of the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, and Manhattan skyline that somehow look even better on the return journey at dusk. The sunset and evening cruises seem particularly magical, with several reviewers mentioning live jazz music, blankets for chilly weather, and a relaxed atmosphere that perfectly caps off a New York visit. People love being able to walk around the deck freely and photograph landmarks without the usual crowds. One guest who missed their sailing due to confusion about dates wished they'd received email reminders like other tour companies send, and another mentioned a smoking incident that was initially mishandled but ultimately resolved personally by the owner, which shows they do care about guest satisfaction even when things go wrong.
