This family-run operation offers something truly special for those seeking an intimate canyon experience away from the crowds. Guests consistently praise the small group sizes, with many mentioning tours of just 2-10 people that feel almost private. The night tours have become a standout offering, with guides like Ron, Melanie, and Julia teaching visitors how to photograph the Milky Way using just their phones and sharing insights about Navajo culture and local wildlife along the way. The personal touch really shines through here. Guides take their time, never rushing visitors for photos, and several reviews mention staff helping elderly guests navigate the terrain. The moderate hike features well-lit paths with handrails, making it accessible for most fitness levels. One guest did encounter some tension when they arrived slightly later than expected, as there seems to be an expectation to arrive 20 minutes early that wasn't clearly communicated in their confirmation. However, this appears to be an isolated incident in an otherwise overwhelmingly positive stream of feedback about the friendly, patient service and the magical experience of exploring these stunning canyons without battling massive tour groups.

My daughter and I recently came down for a vacation and tried to squeeze in as many tours and activities as possible without being overwhelmed. We booked two tours at Ligai Si' Anii, a star gazing tour and a daytime canyon tour. The star gazing one was first and was a slightly lackluster. We managed to see decent stars, but our two guides seemed to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. One was at least somewhat eager to talk to us about the history of the canyons while the other seemed to want to bring us in, point at where we should look and then let us figure out the rest. It was still a beautiful tour with photography opportunities galore, but it just seemed to be lacking something. The next day we went back for a daytime tour of Deer Canyon and needless to say we were a little skeptical. We had already discovered that due to some strange websites issues I had essentially overpaid for a ticket to go there, but keeping an open mind, we proceeded with the tour. I believe the young woman that led the tour was named Alex (I apologize, I am horrible with names) and she completely made up for the previous night. She was informative, full of information, friendly and had no issues with answering questions and filling us in with the location’s history. She was even kind enough to share some personal stories she had of the canyon and fully admit when she was not sure of an answer. She would be the main reason I would whole-heartedly recommend this location and this tour to anyone. I am sure that other guides (perhaps on better days) would do just as great of a job, but honestly, I would say her tour with our small group through the canyon was easily one of the best highlights of our entire vacation. I would, without a doubt, take this tour again just to hear some of her stories of the land and the spirits within the canyons.
