Antelope Valley Canyon Tours by Ligai Si Anii is a Navajo, female-owned outfitter granting rare access to 15 square miles of private slot canyons on the Yazzie family ranch. Led by guides who grew up herding sheep among the sandst...
This family-run operation offers something truly special for those seeking an intimate canyon experience away from the crowds. Guests consistently praise the small group sizes, with many mentioning tours of just 2-10 people that feel almost private. The night tours have become a standout offering, with guides like Ron, Melanie, and Julia teaching visitors how to photograph the Milky Way using just their phones and sharing insights about Navajo culture and local wildlife along the way. The personal touch really shines through here. Guides take their time, never rushing visitors for photos, and several reviews mention staff helping elderly guests navigate the terrain. The moderate hike features well-lit paths with handrails, making it accessible for most fitness levels. One guest did encounter some tension when they arrived slightly later than expected, as there seems to be an expectation to arrive 20 minutes early that wasn't clearly communicated in their confirmation. However, this appears to be an isolated incident in an otherwise overwhelmingly positive stream of feedback about the friendly, patient service and the magical experience of exploring these stunning canyons without battling massive tour groups.
After some research we found this tour company - smaller, private, and family run. We liked this option much better than the bigger providers, knowing we would likely get a better experience than following 50 other people through a narrow canyon. We got so lucky that our tour (early and mid-week) was just us! John took my partner and I on a private tour, and shared about the history and science behind the canyon and broader surroundings in Arizona. We got some beautiful pictures and loved every minute. Thank you so much Antelope Valley Canyon Tours!
