Explore Skagway’s Gold Rush stories and mountain scenery in a small group
2.5 – 3 Hours
Guided tour, scenic drive, history
Explore Skagway by road with a local guide who connects the town’s landmarks to its Klondike-era past. Enjoy a relaxed small-group introduction without a crowded tour bus.
Scenic Overlook & Harbor Views
We begin with a scenic overlook above town that offers panoramic views of Skagway’s harbor, cruise ships, and surrounding mountains.
From this vantage point you can clearly see why this small port became the starting point for thousands of stampeders heading north during the Klondike Gold Rush.
It’s the kind of view that explains Skagway at a glance.
White Pass Scenic Drive
Next we travel up the Klondike Highway toward White Pass, one of the most famous mountain routes of the Gold Rush era.
As we climb from sea level into alpine terrain, the landscape transforms dramatically.
Along the way you’ll see:
• Waterfalls cascading down granite cliffs • Rugged mountain landscapes • Alpine lakes and sub-arctic terrain • Historic sections of the Klondike Gold Rush route
The White Pass scenic drive from Skagway is widely considered one of the most beautiful mountain drives in Alaska.
Gold Rush Cemetery & Reid Falls
We then visit the historic Gold Rush Cemetery, where some of Skagway’s most colorful stories unfolded.
Here you’ll hear about:
• The larger-than-life characters of the Gold Rush • Legendary frontier rivalries • The events that helped shape early Skagway
Just beyond the cemetery, Reid Falls cascades down a dramatic rock face, creating one of the most beautiful natural sites in town.
It’s a powerful reminder that Skagway’s history is tied closely to the landscape.
Historic Skagway
We’ll also travel through historic downtown Skagway, highlighting the buildings and locations that shaped this once-rowdy frontier town.
You’ll see where stampeders gathered supplies before attempting the difficult journey into the Yukon.
By the end of the tour, Skagway’s streets won’t just look charming.
They’ll tell a story.
