Know before you go
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure to pick up tickets
- Mine entry is for ages 5+ only; younger children may remain at the mine site with a ticketed adult
- Keep children ages 1–10 with an adult at all times
- Keep infants 11 months and younger on a lap or in a body carrier; strollers and car seats are not allowed on the train
- Walk independently without mobility aids for long distances on a steep, uneven gravel hill above 9,000 feet
- Requires good health and no heart, respiratory, mobility, or recent-surgery concerns
- Wear a hard hat inside the mine and prepare for 40–45°F temperatures
- Expect fake gunfire during the ride and at Devil's Gate station
- Leave alcohol and recreational drugs off the property
Cancellation Policy
Receive a 90% refund of the ticket subtotal when you cancel at least 48 hours before departure. No refund is available within 48 hours of departure.
FAQs
Ride in an open-air gondola car or a box car with a canopy roof and open sides. Bench seating is first come, first served, so board together if you want to sit together. Mine tour passengers cannot use premium seating.
Bring snacks or a sack lunch if you like. Leave outside alcohol, glass, and large containers such as hard-sided coolers behind.
Prepare for any type of weather on the Wild West train and mine tour. Trains may be delayed or canceled, and refunds or rain checks are not offered because of inclement weather.
