Know before you go
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure to pick up tickets
- Ages 5+ only for entry into the mine; younger children may remain above ground with a ticketed adult
- Children ages 1-10 must remain with an adult at all times
- Infants under 12 months must ride on a lap or in a body carrier; strollers and car seats are not allowed on the train
- Requires long-distance walking on a steep, uneven 6% gravel hill above 9,000 feet
- Requires independent walking without mobility aids; wheelchairs cannot be accommodated at the mine site
- Requires good health and no heart, respiratory, mobility, or recent-surgery concerns
- Wear a hard hat throughout the underground tour and prepare for low ceilings and 40°F-45°F mine temperatures
- Leave outside alcohol, glass, large containers, and hard-sided coolers behind
Cancellation Policy
Cancel at least 48 hours before departure for a 90% refund of the ticket subtotal. No refunds within 48 hours of departure. No refunds for no-shows or changes within 1 hour.

Arrive prepared for any type of weather. Refunds and rain checks are not offered because of inclement weather.
Coach seating is first come, first served on benches along the sides of either open-sided box cars with canopy roofs or open-air gondola cars. Board together if you want to sit together.
Train departures may be delayed or canceled for any reason, and locomotives and passenger cars may change without notice.
