Guide, gear, canyon footwear
Build the skills you need for a safe, self-guided descent of beginner to intermediate canyons in Zion National Park. Start with instruction at Zion Adventures™, then practice in a nearby slot canyon.
Recommended age is 12+. Zion National Park policy does not permit guides in backcountry canyons; permits are required for these canyons and can be obtained online in advance or at the Zion Wilderness Desk the day before.
Cancel more than 14 days in advance for a 95% refund. Cancellations within 14 days of trip date are non-refundable. Weather conditions do not permit clients to cancel trips. If your guide determines it is unsafe, you will be rescheduled or refunded in full if no comparable experience is possible.
Zion Adventures does not have long-term customer parking. You can take the free town shuttle from your hotel or plan to park on Lion Blvd for $12/day, or in the gravel lot next to Zion Adventures for $20 (cash only).
Bring 2–3 liters of water per person, lunch and snacks, sun protection (sunscreen, hat, protective layers), and clothing for varying seasonal weather. Wear closed-toe athletic or hiking shoes and bring any personal equipment you want (not required).
In summer, wear a synthetic T-shirt with shorts or lightweight pants. In spring/fall/winter, wear warm synthetic layers and bring a waterproof jacket and gloves.

With an impressive track record and consistently glowing feedback, this outfitter has clearly mastered the art of customer service. Staff members like Thomas, Whitney, and Whit get called out by name for their patience, expertise, and genuine care for visitors' experiences. The team takes time to offer thoughtful advice, whether that's helping guests choose the right gear, suggesting realistic itineraries, or even talking people out of overdoing it with back-to-back tours. Their flexibility shines through too, from staying open late for fittings to handling last-minute cancellations and medical emergencies without hassle. The gear rentals for the Narrows are a huge hit, with travelers praising both quality and fair pricing. Guided canyoneering trips and Angels Landing hikes consistently exceed expectations, with guides managing logistics like permits and transportation while keeping groups safe and moving at a comfortable pace. Multiple visitors recommend picking up rental equipment the evening before to catch early shuttles and beat the crowds. The shop also carries solid souvenirs and outdoor brands if you need additional gear. Bottom line: this is the kind of reliable, customer-focused operation that makes exploring Zion's challenging terrain feel accessible and well-supported.
