Early Morning West Thumb Geyser Basin Kayak Tour

Explore Yellowstone Lake's West Thumb Geyser Basin from the water, with views of active thermal features along the shoreline. Your guide leads an educational paddle and a beachside picnic lunch.

Itinerary

• Meet and greet at the Grant Village Marina, receive your dry bag and your guide will get you started with things you will want to bring.
• After using the bathrooms, we go over a safety talk, paddle instruction, and a map talk.
• When we get to the kayaks, we adjust your foot pedals and make sure you feel comfortable in our kayaks. We have carbon fiber paddles, and comfortable sea kayaks, so we can ensure you have the best possible time!
• Once we launch from the beach, guides keeping your toes dry, we paddle three miles to the West Thumb Geyser Basin (easier done than said as our kayaks are really fast!).
• We also stop for a beach break/ snack break on one of our favorite volcanic black sand beaches.
• Once we have had our beach break and have seen the basin, we head back to the marina and look for any unique wildlife in the evening's golden hour.

Important details

• Ages 6+ only
• Plan for a 7:30 AM start in June through August or an 8:30 AM start in September and October
• Arrive on time; the tour departs without your party if you are more than 15 minutes late
• Prepare for changing weather with quick-drying layers, a warm jacket, rain jacket, and shoes that can get wet
• Plan ahead for limited cell coverage and possible traffic congestion in the park
