Alaska Luxury Tours reimagines Juneau’s wild beauty as a five-star adventure. Step aboard the region’s only private whale-watching yachts, where expert captains and onboard naturalists guide intimate groups through glacier-fed wat...
Nate clearly runs an exceptional Northern Lights operation that goes well beyond the typical tour bus experience. Travelers consistently praise his ability to find secluded viewing spots away from crowds, often taking groups onto frozen lakes for an intimate aurora experience. His attention to detail stands out: he builds fires, provides hot drinks and snacks (including reindeer sausages and s'mores), has extra winter gear on hand, and even puts rubber mats down so guests aren't standing directly on snow. The photography service is a huge bonus, with guests receiving professional aurora portraits sent to them by the next morning. What really sets Nate apart is his flexible, customer-focused approach. His cancellation policy allows changes up to 24 hours out if weather looks poor, and he's willing to stay out as long or as short as guests prefer. Multiple reviews mention tours running from 9pm to 5am, with Nate constantly checking conditions and pulling over if the lights appear again. Beyond aurora tours, he also offers trips to Chena Hot Springs and the Ice Museum, and reviewers love his local knowledge and storytelling. People describe feeling like part of a small family rather than just another tour group, with international visitors and multi-generational groups all having equally glowing experiences.
My adventure with Nate was wonderful. After going to Chena Hot Springs where I saw the ice museum, drank an appletini, and soaked in the hot springs, he took us to the perfect place to see the aurora, which was fantastic. There he cooked reindeer sausages and s’mores. He was a great guide, quite knowledgeable about the area and the aurora, and fun to be with. The whole trip far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend him.
