Captain Gintas brings a lifetime on Lake Michigan and more than 30 years in business to every outing with Angler Charters. Known for his deep knowledge of local waters, changing conditions, and where the fish are biting, he create...
Captain Gintas is the kind of guide who's clearly fished Lake Michigan long enough to know it like a second home. Reviewers consistently point to his deep knowledge of the lake, his ability to put people on fish, and his claim of never having been skunked on a charter. First mate Johnny gets plenty of praise too, particularly for keeping guests engaged and teaching fish cleaning on the way back to the harbor. The experience seems to attract a lot of repeat customers, which speaks volumes. People come back year after year, and groups that have tried other charters tend to stick with Gintas once they've been out with him. Beyond the fishing itself, the post-trip fish fry on the dock is a detail multiple reviewers specifically called out as something not to skip. A heads up for first-timers: the lake can have some swell, so bringing Dramamine isn't a bad idea if you're not used to open water. Beyond that, this is a solid pick for families, groups, or solo anglers looking for a knowledgeable captain who takes the fishing seriously while keeping things fun.
My dad booked a charter for my family with Gintas. It was the most successful family fishing trip on Lake Michigan we've had in my life. The captain is extremely knowledgeable about the lake and knows where the big fish bite. He even showed my nieces how to play catch with the seagulls. The captain also knows how to keep a cool head in rough waters. I would absolutely go out with him again.
