Discover Cincinnati’s past one pint at a time with the Brewing Heritage Trail. Operated by a local nonprofit devoted to preserving the city’s beer legacy, their historian-guided walking tours weave through ornate 19th-century brew...
Cincinnati's brewing history runs deep, and these tours do a genuinely impressive job of bringing it to life. Guides like Kanah, Jack, Lisa, and Rory come up repeatedly in reviews, praised for their depth of knowledge and ability to keep groups engaged and entertained. The history spans architecture, brewing culture, and city identity, so there's real substance here beyond just bar hopping. The tours vary in focus, from the popular Built on Beer walking experience to the Bruckmann Brewery tour with its lagering tunnels and artifact collection. One thing worth knowing for those with mobility concerns: the Jackson Brewery cellar portion involves a steep staircase with quite a few steps, though skipping it is an option. For everyone else, it tends to be a highlight. Locals, first-time visitors, and history buffs all seem to get something meaningful out of the experience. The guides clearly take pride in what they do, and that enthusiasm comes through consistently across the different tours on offer.
We did the "Built on Beer" tour and Kanah was awesome! He was super knowledgeable and funny, and it felt like the tour flew by. The Jackson Brewery beer cellars are spectacular, and Northern Row is a great way to end the tour. Highly recommend!
