Captain’s Fishing Parties has been a Plum Island tradition for more than five decades. Three generations of the Charos family welcome guests aboard their versatile four-boat fleet, offering everything from hands-on striped bass ou...
This family-run operation has been taking people out on the water since the late 70s, and their experienced crew consistently gets high marks for being friendly and helpful. The staff, including crew members like Mark, Gabe, Travis, and Charity, clearly know their way around these waters and go out of their way to make sure everyone has a good time, particularly families with kids or guests who need extra assistance. Beyond fishing trips, they offer popular cruises like their fireworks dinner excursions, which guests rave about for the primo viewing spots and festive atmosphere. The fishing success varies quite a bit depending on what Mother Nature decides, which is pretty standard for any charter operation. Most trips seem to deliver decent catches of mackerel, stripers, and haddock, with occasional bonus whale and dolphin sightings. The boats are clean and well-maintained, with rental gear that generally does the job. A couple guests mentioned issues with reservation transfers and smoking on deck, but the overwhelming majority describe having a blast on the water. Just remember to bring cash to tip the hardworking crew, and understand that some days the fish simply aren't cooperating, no matter how skilled the captain.
Decided on a 4hr Mackerel trip with my family, and had such an amazing time. Captain and crew were attentive, knowledgable and made the trip a memorable experience for everyone. Would definitely recommend, and will be back! Remember to bring some extra $$ to tip the crew members, they work extra hard and deserve it!
