This walking food tour consistently wins over visitors with knowledgeable local guides who bring Avalon's history to life between tastings. Janet, Lili, and Paul get enthusiastic praise for sharing island lore and personal stories that make the three-hour experience feel like exploring with a well-connected friend. The format works beautifully: six stops at various restaurants where you'll sample everything from Polynesian steak to hibiscus tea to fresh seafood, with enough variety to satisfy different tastes and enough food to count as a proper meal. One visitor had a notably different experience, reporting communication issues about meeting details and receiving only two of the advertised restaurant options with food they felt didn't match promotional photos. That review stands in stark contrast to the overwhelming majority who rave about the "fantastic eats" and feel the tour offers perfect value. Most guests appreciate how guides accommodate dietary restrictions and how the leisurely pace allows time to actually enjoy each stop. First-time Catalina visitors especially find this tour invaluable for understanding the island's quirky character while discovering restaurants they'll want to revisit during their stay.
