Just 40 minutes from Denver, Hidee Gold Mine offers an authentic glimpse into Colorado’s storied Gold Rush. Guided by veteran miners, guests venture deep into a state-inspected tunnel, stand beside a five-foot wide gold vein, and ...
This place has an almost suspiciously perfect rating, and yet reading through the reviews, it's pretty easy to see why. Guides like Jim, Jennifer, Heather, Rusty, Roy, and Dave are consistently praised for being knowledgeable, personable, and great with kids of all ages. The tours go deep underground where you can touch actual mineral veins, chisel out ore samples, and learn the real history behind Colorado's gold rush era. The hands-on elements seem to be the real draw. Guests get to hammer and chisel gold ore straight from a fault, pan for gold afterward, and apparently leave with surprisingly decent yields. Families with young children show up repeatedly in the reviews, and the staff clearly knows how to keep kids engaged. Solo travelers and adults without kids also report having a genuinely great time. As a bonus, there are friendly ground squirrels and chipmunks on site that guests seem to love feeding between activities.
Thank you for this trip and the guide who explained everything so well. Please just come along and have the experience. It was an amazing experience, and in the end, everyone should have found their own little bag of gold. Thank you for everything!
