Key Life Charters offers private boat experiences designed to help guests enjoy the best of Siesta Key and Sarasota from the water. Led by USCG licensed Master Captain Mike Nix, each charter is tailored to your ideal day, from dol...
Captain Mike and his partner Donna have clearly built something special along the Siesta Key and Sarasota waterways. Reviewers consistently rave about Mike's deep knowledge of the area, his easygoing personality, and his knack for finding wildlife. Dolphins, manatees, manta rays, and sharks all make appearances with regularity, and Mike seems to know exactly where to look. The boat itself gets high marks too, described as clean, comfortable, and well-equipped for a full day out. What stands out beyond the on-water experience is how personal the whole operation feels. Donna handles booking and communication with warmth and efficiency, and she even offers hotel pickups and drop-offs, a detail that clearly delights guests. Tours range from two-hour sunset cruises to full six-hour adventures, and the consensus is to book as much time as you can since it goes fast. Tiki bar stops, shell collecting, snorkeling, and beachside dining all make appearances depending on the tour. There is one notable hiccup in the reviews involving a boat breakdown and a delayed refund, worth keeping in mind. That said, it stands out precisely because it's so rare. The overwhelming majority of guests, including many repeat visitors, describe their experience as a trip highlight. If you're spending time in the Siesta Key area and want to get out on the water, Mike and Donna are a genuinely strong choice.
We went on a 4 hour charter with Mike yesterday and Mike truly delivered! We wanted to go to sand bars, see manatees, see dolphins. We seen all that and more! Sand dollars galore, and even a giant conch shell!
