Kona Diving Company is a family-owned dive center in Kailua-Kona that welcomes every guest like ohana. Since 2010, its seasoned captains and divemasters have delivered small-group charters famed for personal attention, safety, and...
Kona's manta ray night dive is a bucket-list experience, and this crew delivers it exceptionally well. Guides like Cody, Bruce, Dave, Kim, and Imran come up repeatedly in reviews for being knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely fun to be around. Newer divers consistently feel supported, while more experienced ones appreciate the quality of the sites and the crew's ability to spot marine life others might miss. Warm drinks, snacks, and homemade brownies between dives are a nice touch, and the two resident dogs, Ziggy and Blue, have apparently earned their own fan base. Beyond the manta rays, guests have encountered whale sharks, tiger sharks, turtles, eels, octopus, and lava tubes, so the diversity of what's out there is real. One review stood out for a more serious reason: a guest's husband had a medical emergency on board, and the crew's emergency response, CPR, AED, coordinated communication with emergency services, was swift and effective. That kind of preparedness says a lot about how this operation is run. Captain Kirsten's team has clearly built something worth trusting, and the sheer volume of people saying they'd come back is hard to argue with.
Did the Manta night dive and a day two dive boat tour with KDC. What a professional and entertaining crew! I had such a spectacular time with Capt Jason, comedian Imran then Cap Maxine and Bruce the next day. The guides were so thorough and diligent, it was such useful practice for a newish Diver with only 20 dives under her belt. And who could forget the freaking AMAZING manta rays??? I was still shivering in awe when I went to bed that night. It's truly the experience of a lifetime
