Captain Landon Johnson has built a loyal following in the Florida Keys, and it's easy to see why. Repeat customers keep coming back, families with young kids rave about his patience and energy, and first-timers consistently walk away feeling like seasoned anglers. He handles all the technical stuff like line management and lure changes, but gives you enough room to actually fight your own fish rather than micromanaging the whole experience. The trips themselves cover a lot of ground. Backcountry fishing, offshore runs, lobstering, snorkeling, dolphin sightings, and even cooking up fresh catches on a sandbar are all part of what people describe. Several reviewers specifically highlight his fish tacos and sandwiches as a highlight. His local knowledge is a real asset, both on the water and off, as he often points guests toward great local restaurants to finish the day right.
I have been on several boating and fishing excursions and this is by far, the best one! Don't look around for other options, Landon is the way to go. Landon is knowledgeable in a plethora of areas; he is able to connect with his clients, knows the area and is well versed in fishing/snorkeling and relaxing locations! We had an eight hour fishing excursion and every moment was amazing. From the second you step in the boat, Landon is not only your captain, but your friend and guide for the day. He makes a point to get to know you and the group, what your expectations are and he delivers! Of course, boating and fishing excursions are reliant on nature, so if we went out and saw absolutely nothing, that would be no fault of Landon's. However, see things we did! We caught several barracuda and kept one that he filleted for us at the end of the evening that we marinated and grilled. Delicious in fish tacos! We stopped to snorkel and saw a sea turtle, hog fish, lobster and more! Landon does a great job balancing safety and letting you enjoy the experience. We spent some time swimming and floating before continuing on with our fishing excursion. We were able to go further out in the ocean and saw dolphins and sharks and caught several types of fish. The highlight came when we caught (and released) two Goliath grouper! Let me tell you, Landon was prepared and able to help us bring them up for a photo opp before letting them go. His knowledge of the area and boating was superb and I cannot recommend him any higher. Take this as your sign to book an excursion with him!
