Lazy Dog Adventures has been helping guests explore the quiet side of Key West since 1998. Known for its long-tenured, welcoming crew and deep love of life on the water, Lazy Dog offers a relaxed, local perspective on the island’s...
With guides like Rachel, Brett, Heather, Bethany, and CeeCee leading the way, it's easy to see why this kayak outfitter earns such consistent praise. The two-hour mangrove eco tour stands out as a clear crowd favorite, with guides bringing real enthusiasm and knowledge about the Keys ecosystem. Rachel in particular has earned a following for her storytelling and passion for local wildlife, and several groups were treated to unexpected manatee sightings along the way. The operation runs smoothly from start to finish. Booking is straightforward, gear is well-maintained, there are changing facilities on site, and the staff handles all the logistics so you can focus on enjoying the water. The tours welcome beginners, with solo and tandem kayak options available. One reviewer even noted that the group tours tend to start on time, which is a small but appreciated detail when you're coordinating a family trip. Whether your group is two people or six, the experience feels personal rather than rushed. Guides tailor their commentary to the group and keep everyone together while still making it feel like an adventure. The refund for a no-show guest, mentioned by one reviewer, speaks to a level of customer care that goes beyond what most expect. For anyone looking to see a quieter, wilder side of Key West, this is a strong choice.
My wife and I enjoyed the two-hour Eco tour with “Tall Rachel”. It was easy to book and easy to get there. This was the one tour where everyone showed up on time, which was appreciated. It was suitable for those with little to no kayaking experience with options for solos or doubles. Rachel did a fine job of teaching us about the ecosystem of Red Mangroves with some Key West trivia thrown in. Highly recommended.
