The instructors here consistently deliver exceptional experiences for complete beginners and families alike. Names like Kea, George, Ole, Kekoa, and Kazuma come up repeatedly, with reviewers praising their patience, clear teaching style, and ability to get first-timers standing on boards faster than expected. The location in Kihei offers ideal beginner-friendly conditions with shallow, gentle waves that help nervous learners feel comfortable quickly. Many families mention booking both kids and adults, even grandparents in their 60s, with everyone finding success and having a blast. What really stands out is the welcoming, fun atmosphere the entire staff creates. People describe feeling like they're learning from friends rather than just hired instructors, with teachers offering local tips and genuinely engaging with families. The professional photos are a hit, and the convenience of being right across from the break makes everything seamless. Several reviewers mentioned returning year after year or rebooking additional lessons because the experience exceeded expectations. The team's flexibility with scheduling and genuine care for safety round out an operation that clearly knows how to make surfing accessible and memorable for all ages and skill levels.
“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” some say… What happens at Maui Waveriders in Hawaii doesn’t stay in Maui, why? I’d be the resident fool to not share all this fun with the world! Tommy the owner (right), pictured with me, (a former pro surfer/cover Surfer magazine) and his fab crew will surely take care of you like he does me, the island community and countless visitors. I’d suggest stopping by MWR and get in the water before you board that plane at OGG and end up in deep regret all the way home, spending way too much $ on those airline cocktails realizing you missed out on an epic surf adventure!
