Antelope Kayak Tours offers what reviewers consistently call the best way to experience Antelope Canyon, with far fewer crowds than traditional land tours. The guides, particularly Rich, Justin, Nolan, and Vince, earn high praise for being knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Many mention how guides share fascinating history about the Navajo culture and the area, with one special touch being Justin playing a traditional flute inside the canyon. The overall vibe is laid-back yet professional, with guides giving just the right balance of information and freedom to explore. Be prepared for a genuine workout. The experience involves about 3 miles of kayaking round-trip plus 1-2 miles of hiking, and no kayaking experience is necessary since guides teach you the basics. Expect to get wet from paddling and potentially step into the water when landing. The paddle back under midday sun can be tiring, especially when boat waves come through. Most reviewers suggest going early morning to beat crowds and heat. A few mentioned that if you choose a tandem kayak, you may need to haul it yourself, which can be challenging. The stunning sandstone formations and serene atmosphere make the physical effort worthwhile, with many calling it a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This was such an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! I did the Antelope canyon guided kayak tour - it was approx 6 miles of paddling (there and back) and 1-2 miles of hiking. Justin, our guide, was so knowledgeable and kind. He shared alot of cool information about the land and the native culture of the area. The sand formations were out of this world and the kayaking was gorgeous too! It was a little chilly in the morning when we got there but by the time you get moving and see the amazing views, you won’t even notice! I will need another trip to Arizona to see everything here and I would definitely book this again!
