Rocky Mountain Stables invites you to explore Colorado’s high country the way it’s been experienced for generations—on horseback. Nestled at Snow Mountain Ranch near Winter Park, this family-run outfit pairs each guest with a gent...
The guides here are genuinely the heart of the operation. Isabelle, Louis, and the rest of the crew come up repeatedly in reviews for being knowledgeable, warm, and clearly passionate about their horses. First-timers consistently mention feeling comfortable and safe, and the guides are happy to answer questions and share stories along the way. The trails wind through forest and mountain scenery that most reviewers describe as simply stunning, especially in snow. A couple of things worth knowing before you go: the stable requires you to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled ride time, and that expectation is important to them. Some guests have been caught off guard by this, so build that buffer into your plans. There is also a 250-pound weight limit. Show up prepared on both fronts and you should have a smooth, memorable experience. The horses are described as gentle and well-cared-for, and the setting at Snow Mountain Ranch adds a whole extra layer of charm to the outing.
This was an incredible ride. The views obviously are amazing but the trail guide, Isabelle was so friendly, willing to be our “Google” of the ride and knew the horses so well. I highly recommend this ride.
