Since the early 1970s, the Myths of Maui Luau has been sharing the spirit of Hawai‘i from a spectacular oceanfront stage on Ka’anapali Beach. Guests are welcomed with a shell lei before witnessing the imu ceremony that reveals the...
The show itself consistently earns high marks, with reviewers particularly raving about the fire dancing finale and the cultural storytelling that feels more authentic than typical commercial productions. Several guests appreciated learning actual history through the performances, and many noted the talented dancers and live musicians created a memorable evening. The oceanfront venue offers beautiful sunset views, and the buffet gets generally positive feedback for variety and taste, with decent gluten-free and vegetarian options available. Logistics can be bumpy, though. Check-in lines move slowly, especially during peak times, which can leave you feeling rushed since the buffet closes relatively early into the event. A few guests encountered staff members who came across as unwelcoming or rude, which stands out given Hawaii's reputation for aloha spirit. There are also occasional last-minute cancellations that have left travelers scrambling. On the flip side, plenty of reviewers praised friendly servers and smooth operations, and the VIP package seems to resolve most timing issues with priority seating and table service. If you go, arrive early and consider upgrading for a more relaxed experience.
Delicious food and drinks. The stories of the islands were amazingly told and the band was fantastic. We purchased v.i.p tickets and enjoyed EVERYTHING. We will definitely come again to this beautiful show and dinner. Not a bad way to spend my birthday.
