This three-hour walking tour has become a local favorite, with guides like Abby, Caroline, Mia, and Amy consistently earning praise for their warm personalities and deep knowledge of Sonoma's history. The experience hits a sweet spot between educational and delicious, taking small groups to carefully curated stops including a Mexican restaurant, chocolate shop, wineries, cheese makers, and an ice creamery. Reviewers appreciate how seamlessly everything flows, with each business clearly expecting the group and ready to serve generous portions that add up to a full meal plus treats. The thoughtful details make a difference here. Guides photograph your group and share the images afterward, provide hand-drawn maps for notes, and greet local business owners like old friends, extending that warmth to guests. The pace allows for leisurely enjoyment without feeling rushed, and the moderate walking covers hidden alleys and spots around Sonoma Plaza that visitors might miss exploring solo. Even locals who've taken the tour multiple times say they learn something new each time, making it work equally well for first-timers and those already familiar with the area.
We had the best day with Mia!!! My mom and I lucked into a private tour when there was a late cancel and Mia still went out of her way to give us a full and special day. She weaves the history into the food stops like an expert - we learned so much and loved every stop. The first stop and special cocktail were both highlights. In a town with so many options, starting off with a local showing us around made us feel like VIPs. An added bonus - she graciously took photos of us together along the way so we’re leaving with more than selfies :) Thank you, Mia - we can’t wait to come back!
