Hidden beneath Southern Indiana hills, Squire Boone Caverns invites guests to step into a living storybook of geology and pioneer history. Candlelit passages reveal towering stalagmites, rushing underground waterfalls, and the nat...
This cave tour consistently delivers thanks to an exceptional team of guides. Visitors specifically praise guides like Rissa, Chelsea, Christa, and Storm by name, highlighting their deep knowledge of both the geological formations and local history. The enthusiasm is genuine, and they excel at engaging mixed groups from young kids to seniors while keeping everyone safe navigating the underground terrain. The experience itself offers something special, with dramatic underground streams and impressive formations that make this a standout among Indiana's cave country attractions. Recent visitors have caught the caverns during high water periods from heavy rain, creating a rare and memorable experience with rushing rivers inside. Beyond the main tour, families appreciate the small petting zoo with friendly animals and a surprisingly affordable gift shop. The entire operation runs smoothly with friendly staff, well-maintained grounds, and good accessibility despite the rugged natural setting. Multiple generations return here, which speaks volumes about its lasting appeal.
Fantastic, fun affordable day trip with my husband and 9 year old son. Rissa, our tour guide, was warm and knowledgeable, with tons great local lore, geological information, and fun facts to share throughout the tour that really added to the experience! She was outstanding with our mixed group of little kids and older folks, answering all the questions and most importantly keeping us safe as we navigated the rushing rivers in the cave, that were overfull from recent unseasonably heavy rain and flooding. It was a rare and unique experience to see the water like this in the caverns! Petting zoo was clean and lots of fun with friendly goats and pigs. Gift shop was shockingly affordable, as if the prices had not been updated since the place opened in the 1970s, and many of the nice quality sweatshirts were marked 50% off of that. We are so lucky to have such rich and one of a kind history so close to home! All staff was super friendly and approachable, like they were happy to be there! The grounds were well kept, clean, and organized. Good signage and accessibility for what is truly a wild, rugged natural area. A bus trip of senior citizens was arriving right as we left, so it’s good to know they can accommodate large groups of all kinds. 100% recommend and this is our favorite caverns in cave country Indiana/Kentucky.
