Dog sledding in Steamboat Springs doesn't get much better than this. Families consistently walk away calling it the highlight of their entire trip, with kids of all ages, from toddlers to grandparents in their 70s, getting to take the reins and drive their own team. The guides, including standouts like Sarah and Steve, are praised for being knowledgeable and warm without being overbearing, striking that balance between helpful instruction and letting you actually soak in the experience. Hot chocolate and cookies after the ride are a nice finishing touch. There is one thing worth knowing: snow conditions in the region can sometimes require relocating to a nearby national park, which adds drive time. The team handles this well, using the trip to share local history and environmental insights, but it's good to go in knowing flexibility may be part of the deal. One reviewer also noted a last-minute cancellation when their group size dropped, so it's worth confirming details closer to your trip date. Overall, the vibe here is genuinely special. The dogs are energetic, the scenery is beautiful, and the crew clearly loves what they do. It's an active, hands-on adventure that requires your attention and effort, which is exactly what makes it so memorable.

We had a lot of fun dogsledding, and it was universally everyone’s favorite part of our trip to Steamboat Springs. It’s kind of a wild experience that I had never considered doing (I didn’t realize it was possible as a lay person), but we are not skiers that we were looking for other fun snow activities and came across it. Being pulled by the dogs through the snow was very magical. The people running the operation were very helpful, and rode on snowmobiles nearby to make sure everything went smoothly. Our kids (Age 5 and 2) are still talking about the different dogs and their personalities. Definitely worth it!
